  5. You are a member of those elite combat specialists, the Ikari
  6. Warriors. Your buddy and you are on a special mission behind enemy
  7. lines, and you've been sleeping, eating, and breathing jungle combat for the
  8. last two weeks. Your tired, but that never affect your razor-sharp judgement
  9. and your will to survive.
  10.  
  11. Your main weapons are machine guns, grenades, and your own
  12. cunning in the face of danger. Sometimes you'll have a tank at your disposal,
  13. which comes in handy when enemy fire is particularly brutal.
  14.  
  15. You move swiftly through the jungle, wading through rivers and
  16. resting from time to time with the ruins of bombed-out buildings. You're
  17. tunning out of ammunition and grenades but you know the battle can't last
  18. forever. Sooner or later, one side is going to emerge victorious. Let's just hope
  19. it's yours!

  21. Getting Started

  23. 1. With your TV switched on, insert the Ikari Warriors cartridge into 
  24.    your Atari 2600 (or 7800tm) as described in your owner's manual.
  25.  
  26. 2. Connect a controller to the left controller port. In two-player 
  27.    Ikari Warriors, connect a controller to each controller port.
  28.  
  29. 3. If you are using an Atari 2600 use the TV TYPE switch to
  30.    select color or black and white.
  31.  
  32. 4. Switch on your console. The Ikari Warriors title screen
  33.    appears.
  34.  
  35. 5. To select one or two player Ikari Warriors, press SELECT or
  36.    move the controller up and down to highlight the desired option. To
  37.    select the highlighted option and begin the game, press the fire button
  38.    or RESET.
  39.  
  40. 6. To return to the opening screen and restart the game with
  41.    the currently selected options, press RESET.

  43. JUNGLE WARFARE
  44.  
  45. Playing the Game
  46.  
  47. Ikari Warriors is a one or two player game of survival. You
  48. and your partner move behind enemy lines in the hopes of wiping out the enemy.
  49. You begin the game with 50 grenades, 99 rounds of ammunition, and 3 lives.
  50. If your luck you can capture a tank to protect you from enemy fire.
  51.  
  52. Move your controller to manoeuvre through the jungle. Your main weapons are
  53. machine guns and grenades. To fire bullets and tank shells, press the fire
  54. button. To toss grenades, hold down the fire button for one or two seconds
  55. until the grenade launches.
  56.  
  57. Watch you bullet and grenade supply carefully. Pick up new supplies before you
  58. run out. To pick up new supplies, simply walk over a supply icon. There are no
  59. icons that up-grade your fire power. (See items.)

  61. The tank, which moves only on dry land, provides safety from enemy bullets. To
  62. enter the tank, move your player onto the top of the tank.
  63.  
  64. The tank can be destroyed by enemy grenades. If the tank sustains damages
  65. while you are inside you go with it. To exit the tank, hold down the fire
  66. button for one or two seconds. Press the fire button to fire shots from the
  67. tank.
  68.  
  69. You must pick up fuel along the way to keep the tank moving.
  70. The tank explodes if it runs out of gas, so don't miss the energy
  71. supply icons!
  72.  
  73. In your journey through the jungle you will occasionally encounter a river or
  74. the sea. You will have to cross the water in order to continue. You can still
  75. fire while you are in the water.

  77. If you come into physical contact with an enemy soldier you
  78. lose a life. You can hide behind rock and rubble to avoid enemy gunfire.
  79. However you will still be vulnerable to their grenades, so watch out!
  80.  
  81. Each time the enemy makes a successful hit you lose a life.
  82. You receive a bonus life every 10,00 points. The fame is over when you lose
  83. your last life. To win the game, you must rescue the colonel being held
  84. captive by the enemy.

  88. The game play takes place on the Action screen. The status bar
  89. displays game information.

  98. Walk or drive your tank over the icon labelled S to replenish
  99. your fuel and ammo supplies.

  102. Strategy

  104. Conserve bullets and grenades.
  105.  
  106. Plan your attack carefully. Dash in quickly, shoot, and back
  107. off before the enemy has a chance to aim and shoot back!

  109. If you come into contact with an enemy soldier you lose a
  110. life.

  112. Learn enemy locations and anticipate enemy attacks.

  114. Run over enemy soldiers with your tank. It saves ammo!

  117. Scoring

  119. The following table shows the number of points you will
  120. receive for destroying
  121. enemy unit and rescuing the colonel.
